Richard Kan, an experienced Sports Chiropractor, has a strong affinity for a variety of sports that has been cultivated over the years. His personal athletic journey spans an exhaustive range of sports from achieving a black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do to engaging in futsal (indoor soccer), field hockey, netball, rugby union, Oztag, basketball, badminton, squash, running, Kung Fu, CrossFit, pickleball and even paintball! This variety of sports has helped develop his understanding of how athletes move and what requirements they

 

He completed his education at Macquarie University, graduating with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Chiropractic. His commitment to the field was recognised during his final year as a student when he was awarded a scholarship from the Fédération Internationale de Chiropratique du Sport (FICS), the foremost global organisation representing Chiropractic in sports.

With years of experience in high performance sport, Richard has had the privilege of working with athletes of all levels; including preparing a number of international athletes for the Olympics, Youth Olympics, Commonwealth Games, and the CrossFit Games, Powerlifting World Championships, Ironman World Championships in Kona, and the NSW Opal Bowl (American Football).

He has been actively invited to treat at a number of high performance events including;

  • 2017 Battle on the Beaches CrossFit Competition

  • 2017 Coastal Carnage CrossFit Competition

  • 2017, 2018 Ninja Wars CrossFit Competition

  • 2018, 2019, 2020 CrossFit Regionals (Australian National Level)

  • 2019 Powerlifting Nationals (Australian National level)

  • 2024 SLS World Tour - Street League Skateboarding (International competition level)

In addition to his clinical practice, Richard is actively involved in the Sports Chiropractic community, serving on the NSW Board of AICE Sports and Exercise Chiropractors, which is the New South Wales branch of Sports Chiropractic Australia. And has begun publishing some of his more interesting cases in journals such as ‘REHABILITATION AFTER LATERAL ANKLE STABILISATION SURGERY AS GUIDED BY A SPORTS CHIROPRACTOR – A CASE REPORT’.

Outside of the sports arena, Richard has a simple appreciation for life's pleasures.

He is a food enthusiast who enjoys culinary delights (and talking about food a lot) and shares his time with his cherished 'furry son,' Arrtoo. Richard's diverse interests and dedication to health and well-being make him a versatile and compassionate professional who enriches the lives of those he serves.
